Mundo Profundo Ayahuasca Retreats: An In-Depth Review for Ayahuasca Retreats in San Luis, Antioquia, Colombia
Mundo Profundo is an ayahuasca retreat listed in San Luis, a waterfall municipality in eastern Antioquia about 124 km from Medellín, according to its Retreat Guru page. That page describes “a dedicated team of Elders and facilitators” and a ceremonial maloka, but names no one, lists no programs, prices or dates and shows no reviews; its photos date from early 2024. Our earlier profile, quoting the center’s website, named founder Kyle Shobe and Abuelo Claudino, a Uitoto elder from Putumayo, and described three ceremonies for up to eight guests at $720. Against that, no legal entity was found, no medical screening, contraindication policy, medical staff or emergency plan is published, the retreat location is disclosed only after registration, and the center shows no dated activity since mid-2024.

The positive picture. No current guest reviews were found on any platform. Our earlier profile quoted guests on the center’s website calling the ceremonies “powerful,” a 4.9 Retreat Guru average from 2020 to 2024, and praise for small groups in a Facebook group. Unverified; Retreat Guru shows “No reviews available.”
The negative feedback. Our earlier profile cited Reddit users mentioning limited medical screening and a 2021 report of a participant with severe nausea attributed to the dieta. Unverified.
Who is writing the reviews. The only live listing carries an “Identity Verified” badge but no reviews, guides or events, and its amenity checklist, which includes a pool, spa, sauna, hot tub and fitness center, does not match the communal lodging our earlier profile described. A Uitoto (Murui) taita named Claudino Pérez Torres was arrested at Mexico City airport in March 2022 carrying ayahuasca, held about two years, and the case was dismissed, as AFP reported in the Tico Times. We found no evidence he is the Abuelo Claudino named by Mundo Profundo.
Several deaths after yagé rituals in the Medellín area between 2021 and 2024 were reported by El Colombiano; none involve this center. Our earlier profile found no incidents.

Screening and medical support. No medical questionnaire, contraindication list, medical staff or emergency protocol is published. Our earlier profile describes an application and a discovery call before booking. San Luis town is the nearest care point; major hospitals are in the Medellín and Rionegro area.
Who runs it. Retreat Guru lists zero guides, and no Colombian company or tax number (NIT) was found. Kyle Shobe and Abuelo Claudino appear only in the center’s own text as quoted in our earlier profile.
Legal context. No Colombian law specifically permits or prohibits yagé, which has cultural recognition and has never been banned, according to ICEERS.
Corrections to our earlier profile. Retreat Guru shows no reviews, not a 4.9 average, and lists no programs, prices or dates. The 5 to 12-day retreats, a 2-hour drive from Medellín, Abuelo Claudino’s 40 or more years of experience, Zoom integration, the $720 price and $360 deposit, groups of up to eight, praise on the center’s website and in a Facebook group, and the Reddit screening and nausea reports remain unverified. The San Luis, Antioquia location, waterfall setting, elder-led ayahuasca ceremonies and Medellín airport access are confirmed by the operator’s listing.
🆘 Screening & Mental Health Risks
No screening or contraindications are published. ICEERS notes that ayahuasca’s MAOI component makes it dangerous with SSRIs and other serotonergic drugs and that it is contraindicated for people prone to psychosis. Never stop a psychiatric medication to qualify for a ceremony without your prescriber’s guidance.
🧪 Brew Substance
The brew’s source is not described. Ayahuasca combines the Banisteriopsis caapi vine with a DMT-containing leaf such as chacruna, as Erowid explains.
