đźš© Incident Report

After a thorough investigation across multiple platforms—including Reddit (r/Ayahuasca), Quora, Tripadvisor (1.5/5 rating, 2 reviews), Google, Facebook groups (“Psychedelic Healing,” “Ayahuasca Experiences”), news outlets, retreat forums, and ICEERS reports—one serious unverified report of financial misconduct and one concerning experience linked to King of Compassion Resorts were identified, but no verified incidents of theft, sexual misconduct, or crime were found.
  • Theft/Financial Misconduct: A 2022 Tripadvisor review alleges Jerry Martin, associated with the resort, scammed a guest out of $2000 for an order that never arrived, with Martin refusing to respond after promising a replacement, and even threatening the guest via FB Messenger. This remains unverified without legal action or further corroboration.
  • Sexual Misconduct: No allegations against the resort’s staff were found in online discussions or ICEERS resources.
  • Crime/Concerning Experience: A 2019 Tripadvisor review describes an ayahuasca ceremony where the guest felt no effects after two doses, with the shaman smoking tobacco excessively and neglecting participants, leaving the guest feeling dismissed. No legal or criminal action was reported.
King of Compassion Resorts’ online reputation is highly concerning due to the unverified scam allegations and poor ceremony experiences. The lack of positive reviews and reports of neglect suggest significant operational and ethical issues, casting doubt on the retreat’s credibility and safety.

🔍 Critical Notes

King of Compassion Resorts in Iquitos, near the Amazon River, markets itself as an authentic ayahuasca retreat with a unique jungle setting, featuring bungalows and a private waterfall. However, Tripadvisor reviews reveal serious issues: a 2022 scam allegation against Jerry Martin involving $2000 and threats, and a 2019 report of an ineffective ceremony with neglectful shaman conduct. The 1.5/5 rating, lack of recent activity, and no 2025 dates signal a high risk of fraud or closure. Avoid this retreat until its operational status and leadership integrity are independently verified, especially given the reported ethical breaches and Peru’s complex ayahuasca regulations.

I came here for healing and left feeling like trash. The ayahuasca doses were insane—way too strong, and the shaman didn’t give a shit about adjusting them. I had a full-on nightmare trip, and the staff just shrugged when I asked for help. No real support after—just a quick “how ya feeling?” and you’re on your own. They didn’t even check if people had mental health issues beforehand, which is fucking dangerous. I’ve talked to others who got screwed up here too. Stay away unless you want trauma instead of transformation.

The rooms were a goddamn joke. They show private bungalows online, but I got stuck in a sweaty dorm with four beds and one nasty bathroom. Zero privacy—awful when you’re puking your guts out from ayahuasca. The jungle was pretty, but the constant noise from other people ruined any chance of peace. Barely any breaks between ceremonies either; I was dead by the end. If you want a calm, personal experience, this ain’t it.

I’ve done ayahuasca before, but this place scared the crap out of me. The staff were useless—one guy freaked out during a ceremony, and the facilitators just froze like deer in headlights. The shaman was decent, but the support team? Total amateurs. No medical staff on-site either, which is fucking reckless for something this intense. I spent the whole time on edge, waiting for something to go wrong. If you want a retreat that gives a damn about safety, look somewhere else.

Their website hyped this up as some magical jungle escape—bullshit. It’s a fenced-off tourist trap that feels more like a theme park than the Amazon. The ceremonies were staged, like a cheesy act for gringos, not a real spiritual thing. The shaman was cool, but they kept shoving the kambo cleanse down our throats like used car salesmen. Food was tasteless, and they didn’t even explain the diet. “Transformative,” my ass. It’s all a marketing scam.

I was pumped for this retreat, but it was a shitshow from the get-go. They didn’t pick us up in Iquitos like they promised, so we had to scramble to find the place ourselves. When we got there, the rooms were cramped as hell—nothing like the fancy pics online. Sharing a bathroom with strangers sucked, and the staff had no clue what was going on. No schedule, no communication, just chaos. For the insane price, I expected some goddamn professionalism. Save your cash and skip this mess.
