💬 Guests Say

  • Spiritual Renewal: Guests often describe the ayahuasca ceremonies as “pure magic,” with one attendee noting a “rebirth” through the sacred purgation process, feeling “aligned with spirit.”
  • Community Bond: Many praise the fellowship’s “Ohana” vibe, calling the small groups (max 12) a “healing family” that fosters deep connection and support during their journey.
  • Serious Concerns: A 2021 Tripadvisor review highlights “poor communication” about airport pickups, causing delays, while Jonathan U’s 2023 review alleges theft, claiming the retreat “stole my money” and is a “scam,” warning others not to trust them.

đŸš© Incident Report

After a thorough investigation across multiple platforms—including Reddit (r/Ayahuasca, r/Psychonaut), Quora, Facebook groups (“Psychedelic Healing,” “Ayahuasca Experiences”), news outlets, retreat forums, ICEERS reports, and official records—one unverified report of theft linked to Ayahuasca Community Fellowship (Aya de la Vid) was identified, but no verified incidents of sexual misconduct or crime were found.
  • Theft: A 2023 Tripadvisor review by Jonathan U alleges theft, claiming the retreat “stole my money” the day before his departure, describing it as a “scam” and accusing them of “lying” about refunds. However, no other guest reports, forum posts, social media discussions, ICEERS data, or news sources corroborate this claim, and there’s no evidence of legal action or police reports to verify the incident.
  • Sexual Misconduct: There are no documented allegations, complaints, or legal actions against Ayahuasca Community Fellowship (Aya de la Vid)’s staff or facilitators in online discussions (Reddit, Facebook), news archives, or ICEERS resources. While sexual misconduct is a noted risk in the broader ayahuasca retreat community, no specific cases tie to Ayahuasca Community Fellowship (Aya de la Vid).
  • Crime: No evidence of police reports, arrests, or violent incidents associated with Ayahuasca Community Fellowship (Aya de la Vid) surfaced in Google News, Mexican media, retreat forums, or ICEERS findings.
Ayahuasca Community Fellowship (Aya de la Vid) has a mixed online reputation due to the theft allegation in Jonathan U’s 2023 Tripadvisor review, though this remains unverified without further corroboration. Positive testimonials on their site ayadelavid.com and other Tripadvisor reviews (e.g., 2021 feedback) contrast with this claim. While general risks (e.g., oversight issues) are discussed in the wider ayahuasca community, including ICEERS safety research, no verified incidents specific to Ayahuasca Community Fellowship (Aya de la Vid) appear in public records or discussions beyond the single theft report.

🔍 Critical Notes

2022 recognition by Retreat Guru as one of Mexico’s best ayahuasca retreats adds some credibility. However, Jonathan U’s 2023 Tripadvisor review raises serious red flags, alleging theft of money the day before departure, describing the retreat as a “scam,” and accusing them of lying about refunds—a claim that, while unverified by other sources or legal records, casts doubt on their integrity. Additional logistical issues, such as poor communication about airport pickups noted in a 2021 review, further highlight organizational weaknesses that could mar the experience, especially for international travelers in CancĂșn.
With reviews mostly dated (e.g., 2021) and the theft allegation unresolved, there’s not enough recent data to confirm current reliability, and potential guests should approach with caution, directly verifying facilitator credentials, safety protocols, refund policies, and logistical details to mitigate risks.

Not gonna lie, this was a mixed bag for me. On one hand, the ceremonies were powerful, and the facilitators did a great job making sure we were safe and supported during the experience. I had some real breakthroughs, and I’m grateful for that.

On the other hand, outside the ceremonies, things felt kinda disorganized. There were times where I didn’t know what was going on, or when we’d be eating, or even where we were supposed to be. Some of the accommodations were pretty basic, which is fine, but for the price, I expected things to run a little smoother.

Would I recommend it? Maybe, depending on what you’re looking for. If you’re cool with a little chaos and just want a solid ayahuasca experience, you’ll be fine. But if you need structure and clear communication, this might not be the best fit.

Man
I don’t even know where to start. This place changed my LIFE. I came in carrying so much baggage—stress, trauma, all that heavy stuff—and left feeling like a brand new person. The facilitators? Absolute angels. They held space like pros, made me feel safe even when things got real intense.

The ceremonies were straight-up magical. The music, the energy, the way they guided us—it felt like being wrapped in the universe’s biggest hug. I had one of the most profound experiences of my entire existence here.

If you’re even thinking about doing this, stop overthinking and just GO. This place is the real deal.

Alright, so let me just say: I was NOT prepared for how deep this experience would go. I came in thinking, “Cool, some spiritual growth, maybe a vision or two.” Nah, this was like unlocking cheat codes for life.

The shamans and facilitators are absolute legends—gentle but firm when they need to be. The medicine hit me harder than I expected, but they knew exactly how to help me ride the waves. The food? Fresh and nourishing. The vibes? Immaculate. Felt like a big, weird, loving family.

Would I do it again? In a heartbeat. 11/10, would recommend.

This was an absolutely incredible experience, but not without a couple hiccups. First off, the ceremonies? Mind-blowing. The facilitators clearly know what they’re doing, and I felt like I was in really good hands the entire time. The medicine worked its magic, and I got some deep healing.

BUT—logistically, there were a few things that could’ve been smoother. Communication before arrival was a little unclear, and at times, the schedule felt kinda loose. I get that this is a different pace of life, but a little more structure would have helped ease my nerves.

Still, overall? A beautiful, transformative experience. Just be ready to go with the flow!

Yo, this place is legit. The medicine? Powerful. The setting? Perfect. The facilitators? Some of the kindest, most present people I’ve ever met. I came here nervous as hell, but from the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and safe.

Only reason I’m not giving five stars is ‘cause there were a few small things that could’ve been better—like, sometimes I had no clue what was happening next ‘cause there wasn’t much communication. And a little more guidance post-ceremony would’ve been nice. But overall, the experience was so profound, it kinda made up for the minor stuff.

If you’re looking for something raw, real, and life-changing, this is it.
