A Component of Best Retreats Accreditation

Ad and marketing review is one of the program services included with Best Retreats Accreditation. The service is operated by The Retreat Safety Project, Inc. as part of the Accreditation Standards review process – specifically the Advertise Honestly standard.

Accredited centers’ public-facing marketing – websites, ad copy, social media posts, funnel pages – is reviewed by The Retreat Safety Project’s research team for content that conflicts with the Accreditation Standards. The purpose is to identify claims that may put participants at risk, mislead potential guests, or violate the standards centers have agreed to uphold as accredited members of the program.

What the Review Covers

The review process focuses on the marketing standards documented in the Accreditation Standards: honest advertising, accurate representation, transparency about pricing and program scope, and ethical marketing toward potentially vulnerable participants.

Issues Flagged in Review

The review identifies content that may conflict with the Accreditation Standards, including:

  • Health guarantees or miracle claims
  • Fake reviews or testimonials
  • Superiority or competitor bashing
  • Misleading “free” claims
  • Dark patterns or high-pressure tactics
  • Unsafe comparisons (“like 10 years of therapy”)
  • Unsubstantiated environmental, cultural, or spiritual claims

Review Output

Accredited centers receive:

  • A written review documenting any flagged issues, with reference to the specific Accreditation Standard each issue relates to
  • A response window during which the center can address flagged issues, contest findings, or provide additional context
  • Documentation of resolution in the center’s accreditation record
  • Periodic re-review as part of ongoing accreditation status

What This Service Is Not

The review is not a marketing consultation, copywriting service, or guarantee against ad-platform disapproval. The Retreat Safety Project does not write marketing copy on behalf of centers, lobby platforms on their behalf, or provide legal advice on advertising compliance. Centers seeking those services should engage a qualified marketing or legal professional.
