Open Positions
Fraud & Risk Ops
Location: Remote
Type: Contract or Part-Time (potential to grow)
You’ll lead the analysis of retreat-related incident reports and handle incoming complaints from our user base. This role is equal parts research, moderation, and digital detective work. You’ll be combing through Reddit threads, TripAdvisor reviews, forums, news archives, and user-submitted reports to validate safety issues and red flags at retreat centers worldwide. Project and queue based work.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate user-submitted incident reports and perform background verification
- Monitor forums, Reddit, Quora, and psychedelic spaces for emerging risks or patterns
- Maintain and update retreat center “Trust Grades” with supporting data
- Write short summaries and incident tags for our directory listings
- Coordinate with the Managing Director on public safety alerts
- Ensure alignment with ethical standards, including victim privacy and neutrality
What You Bring:
- Experience in online investigations, research, risk analysis, or journalism
- Strong intuition for misinformation, scams, and sketchy behavior online
- High integrity and a commitment to ethical neutrality
- Ability to write clearly, cite sources, and maintain objectivity
- Bonus: Background in law, compliance, risk management, OSINT, or trust & safety
Fullstack Developer
Location: Remote
Type: Contract or Part-Time
Help us scale a clean, fast, data-rich platform. You’ll work directly with the Managing Director on infrastructure improvements, listing automation, user experience flows, and lightweight tools for our retreat partners. Expect autonomy, lots of experimentation, and a tech stack that includes WordPress (HivePress), custom JS, and API integrations that constantly change.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and upgrade the core BestRetreats.co website
- Build new features (e.g. incident submission forms, trust widgets, search filters)
- Help automate listing updates, content aggregation, and trust grade systems
- Optimize site performance and page speed
- Ensure security and data integrity across sensitive pages
What You Bring:
- Proficiency with WordPress and custom theme/plugin development
- Strong JavaScript, CSS, and API skills
- Familiarity with Airtable, Zapier, Webhooks, and automation workflows
- UX/UI sensibility and a love for clean, intuitive tools
- Bonus: Experience in directories or content-heavy sites
Community Director
Location: Remote
Type: Full-time
You’ll be the bridge between our platform and the global retreat-seeking community. This is part outreach, part curation, and part public health storytelling. Your role is to listen, build relationships, and ensure that our users and retreat operators feel heard and seen – while maintaining trust and objectivity.
Responsibilities:
- Moderate retreat reviews and user feedback from forums, Reddit, and other platforms
- Engage directly with retreat centers to clarify listing info or respond to concerns
- Help write and publish insights based on user submissions and community reports
- Develop and lead partnerships with nonprofits, researchers, and educators
- Shape the voice of the brand through newsletters, reports, and education campaigns
What You Bring:
- Background in community management, journalism, digital marketing, and psychedelics
- Empathy-driven communication and great writing chops
- Deep familiarity with online psychedelic communities
- Balanced worldview and a commitment to nuance and accuracy
- Bonus: Spanish fluency or international experience with retreats
Account Manager (Retreat Relations)
Location: Remote
Type: Flexible, Freelance
We’re looking for someone to support and manage relationships with the retreat centers that choose to be verified on BestRetreats.co. You’ll onboard new partners, walk them through our safety standards, and ensure their public-facing info is honest, complete, and helpful for users.
Responsibilities:
- Help new retreats get listed, verified, or upgraded
- Answer inquiries about pricing, trust grades, or review policies
- Coordinate with the dev team to ensure retreat info is accurate
- Flag possible issues or inconsistencies in listings
- Build lasting, respectful relationships rooted in our mission
What You Bring:
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Comfort handling sensitive conversations with retreat operators
- Sales, support, or partnerships experience
- Alignment with our ethical and transparency values
- Bonus: Experience in psychedelic work, coaching, or health & wellness
