Retreats With Sinchi Runa

“Ayahuasca is a portal to the essence of humanity, a portal where all the memories and dreams of the species can be found. This opening can bring an understanding of the higher Self and the purpose of being, not only as an individual, but as humanity as a whole. Ayahuasca is a chance to heal the soul and reach the truth that lives within each one of us.”

Maestro Sanango

Our retreats are a process, an opportunity to connect deeply with the heart and what is sacred in each of us. With love and care, we seek to create a sacred space that facilitates this opportunity in all respects.

From staying close to nature in tents, where we can connect with the healing of our Mother Earth, the wind, the birds, and the sun, to the healing food, meditations, activities, and discourse talks with Maestro Sanango, everything is delicately chosen to create a space that fully opens our opportunity for introspection, healing and awakening with Ayahuasca and Master Plants. If you’d like to understand more about the philosophy of Sinchi Runa and Maestro Sanango, and how we work with the gift of plant medicine, then we recommend listening to recorded retreat discourses, or reading our articles.

With our deepest gratitude, we offer this invaluable medicine in our hope of serving humanity and our collective healing, a dream of a humanity that awakens to her essence of love and compassion.

“Ayahuasca is not fugitive pleasure, fortune or adventure. It’s a seed for the wiracochas. Ayahuasca is a door, not to escape, but to enter these and other natures. To tour the provinces of the night, without distance, boundless.”

Silence and Contemplation in Nature

Retreats at Sinchi Runa use the tool of silence (with the exception of sharing circles or consultations with Maestro Sanango or facilitators) to allow each person to interiorize and go inward in their process. We seek to free ourselves from the need to constantly ‘do’, and instead begin to ‘be’, to feel ourselves, our hearts and the plants speaking to us.

Silence is the most important part of the retreat and in deepening the work with the master plants, but speaking is always allowed with facilitators and the Maestro when in need of assistance.

This retreat is a precious opportunity in search of truth, understanding and healing, an opportunity to begin observing and knowing ourselves, our minds and our reactions. This requires a discipline of constant awareness and search for silence. This search is manifested outwardly in refraining from all forms of contact (verbal, written, visual eye contact, and conserving our personal space) to allow the inward search for silence to unfold.

It is important to be able to detach from the usual “day-to-day” routines, habits, personal stories and external noise, in order to be able to integrate the healing and wisdom through one’s process with the plants. Disconnection with the exterior allows us to concentrate all of our energy on the healing process and gives space to observe our lives without interference from the elements that one way or another have created the circumstance we are living in. We nurture and provide the space for self-observation, introspection, and contemplation.

The opportunity of a process with master plants is to become aware of and release what causes one harm and to understand oneself and one’s relationship to the entire movement of life and existence. This is a beautiful and challenging process of comprehension, reflection and silence that requires great willpower, dedication, honesty, sacrifice and purity of intention.

Our Retreat Center

Our retreats are held in a uniquely beautiful place, a silent forest garden near bordering a nature reserve near Huelva, about an hour from Faro, Portugal. It is a majestic space immersed in the silence and aliveness of nature.

You wake up to sound of nature and birds, sleeping in spacious bell tents interspersed between the trees, and there are various beautiful nature walks available in the surrounding area.

You will stay in a private, spacious and comfortable ‘glamping’ bell tent, complete with a bed, mattress and duvet. Each tent is immersed in the countryside’s natural beauty and view, with conditions conducive of reconnecting with oneself, with nature and with the spirit of the plants.

Our facilities (kitchen, bathroom, shower) are outdoors, though for some winter retreats we may open indoor facilities depending on weather conditions. Our accommodations and facilities are purposefully rustic and non-luxurious to bring us closer to nature and the earth. It is an integral part of the work to be in stillness with nature, to be able to hear the birds, feel the wind, the sun, and to see the stars, and within that stillness to begin to hear ourselves, our hearts, and the wisdom of the plants. For the duration of the retreat, we put aside some of our accustomed comforts to bring us closer to what is essential inside us.

We serve delicious healing vegetarian meals that we prepare ourselves, that are low sodium and in harmony with the plant work.

On arrival and departure days we offer a transfer to and from the retreat venue. You will receive more detailed information upon booking.

3-Day Pre-Retreat Detox & Preparation

Optional add-on for our 7 & 11 day retreats

For those that have the space and wish to through a deeper preparation before entering the work with Ayahuasca, we offer a 3-day Detox & Preparation program before entering a 10-day retreat.

This program consist of a Full Kambo Initiation, Shamanic & Ayurvedic cleanses, and sessions to get deeply grounded and centered in your intention before receiving Ayahuasca. It is a profund preparation before going into a healing process with Ayahuasca and Master plants.

Full Kambo Initiation:
The full kambo initiation is a deep work of cleansing and purification on a physical, energetic and mental level. It lifts heavy, stagnant energy, also called “panema”, and allows us to break through repetitive karmic patterns, lethargy, and emotional and physical toxins that keep us from moving forward in life with naturalness, joy and freedom. After the full kambo initiation there is often a sense of being reborn, of going beyond a point of no return, after which we are transformed and able to perceive life with greater clarity and strength of heart and spirit. We’re coming closer to our true selves and living in harmony with our purpose.

The kambo initiation also brings us into deeper trust, and mental and spiritual strength. This, together with new clarity and deeper seeing, can assist us greatly in the healing journey with Ayahuasca and the plant medicine.

Ayurvedic Detox diet:
A purifying and healing Ayurvedic diet is served, one that we often use in our processes with the plant work. It is a Sattvic diet, meaning it promotes a sense of calm, mental clarity, focus, and sense of well-being, making it very suitable for introspective processes where opening, releasing and healing is taking place. Over the course of the preparation days, this helps us enter a space of stillness, balance and reflection as we begin our retreat with Ayahuasca.

Diuretic plant medicine cleanse:
The diuretic cleanse is a specific selection of various plants that helps to clean the water in our body, blood, glands and urinary tract. Our physical bodies are largely made of water, and we store a lot of memory within the water of our bodies. The diuretic cleanse is another form of ‘reset’ that we always use in our longer retreats in preparation for deeper processes with master plants and shamanic diets.

Silence process with Intention and Grounding sessions:
Throughout the preparation days, we will have sessions and meditations to ground ourselves into our intention, and spend ample time in silence and solitude connecting to our hearts and stillness of nature in the nearby beautiful land. As we go into the retreat, we will be prepared to receive Ayahuasca’s wisdom with openness and trust, help us surrender and let go of apprehensions and fears, and open to the healing and understanding that we are seeking.

During my stay at Sinchi Runa, I embarked on a raw, emotionally charged journey that led me into the depths of my own consciousness. The retreat’s immersive setting, surrounded by breathtaking natural landscapes, set the stage for ceremonies that delivered powerful emotional releases and fresh insights into my personal history. At times, the experience was like being caught in a whirlwind of raw emotion—both exhilarating and, at moments, disorienting. I noticed that while the communal integration sessions fostered a supportive atmosphere, the pacing sometimes felt uneven, leaving a few insights hanging without full resolution. Still, the overall process provided me with a newfound clarity and the strength to move forward with a deeper understanding of myself. It was an intense and transformative experience that, with slight improvements in follow-up, could reach even greater heights.

Sinchi Runa is undeniably powerful—a retreat that pulls you deep into your emotional landscape and challenges you to confront long-ignored truths. The environment is stunning, with nature’s raw beauty forming an almost sacred backdrop for each ceremony. I experienced several profound sessions that unlocked hidden parts of my past, yet I sometimes found the transition between intense rituals and group discussions to be a bit abrupt. While the collective sharing offered a sense of solidarity, I often wished for more personalized guidance to help me process the insights at my own pace. The overall experience was transformative and eye-opening, even if a few moments felt less finely tuned than I had hoped. Despite this, I continue to benefit from the breakthroughs I achieved there, and I remain grateful for the deep, healing energy of the retreat.

There are few experiences that truly redefine your inner world, but my time at Sinchi Runa was nothing short of life-changing. Nestled within an awe-inspiring natural landscape, the retreat offered me a space to reconnect with the very core of who I am. I remember one particularly moving ceremony: the rhythmic cadence of indigenous music, the subtle scent of the forest, and a gentle, supportive energy that allowed me to release decades of emotional weight. The experience was both personal and communal—a series of heartfelt moments where every participant’s journey was celebrated in an authentic, unguarded manner. I left Sinchi Runa with an inner light I hadn’t known in years and a renewed confidence to face the world with vulnerability and strength. It was a true rebirth of spirit that I will always cherish.

I ventured into Sinchi Runa with high hopes for a profound transformation and did encounter bursts of intense clarity that were both moving and challenging. The retreat’s raw, natural ambiance is undeniably captivating, creating an environment ripe for deep introspection. However, the experience felt fragmented; while some ceremonies unlocked powerful emotions, I often found the integration process to be inconsistent. Group discussions, though sincere, sometimes felt rushed and left me grappling with lingering questions on my own. Additionally, certain logistical aspects occasionally disrupted the flow of the healing journey, making it difficult to fully absorb the transformative moments. While the potential for deep healing is evident, the overall structure felt incomplete, leaving me with a sense of unresolved tension. For those who are self-reliant and able to navigate their own integration, there may be value—but for me, it felt like an unfinished chapter in an otherwise promising journey.

In a moment when life felt fragmented and I was desperate for renewal, Sinchi Runa provided a transcendent escape into a realm of deep healing. I found myself immersed in a setting that is both wild and wondrous—a lush sanctuary where every breath of fresh air seemed charged with ancient wisdom. During one ceremony held under a vast, starlit sky, I experienced an emotional awakening that shattered long-held defenses and illuminated parts of my soul I’d long forgotten. The rituals unfolded organically, with facilitators who honored each individual’s pace, creating a safe haven for raw vulnerability. In the warmth of our integration circles, every shared story felt like a gentle thread weaving us into a larger tapestry of healing. I emerged with renewed purpose and a spirit reborn, carrying with me a profound sense of inner balance and hope that continues to guide my every step.
