Our comprehensive Ayahuasca Costa Rica retreat experience includes traditional healing ceremonies, group sharing circles, Hatha yoga sessions, therapeutic massage, nutritious meals, beach trips, airport transfers and more. New Life Rising was founded on the principle of quality over quantity. We are not a large commercially operated retreat; we are a small, intimate healing center founded by a husband-and-wife team whose love for each other -and themselves– has flourished through transformative ceremonial work. Since 2014, our small retreat has established an incredible reputation that stands along some of the largest names in the ayahuasca community. This achievement is a testament to years of unwavering dedication by our amazing team and the heartfelt support we’ve received from our guests.
Our retreat is continually evolving as we refine our approach to include the latest safety practices, trauma-informed care, and a range of alternative healing modalities to enrich the ayahuasca retreat experience. With deep gratitude, we’ve had the privilege of guiding thousands of participants through hundreds of retreats over more than a decade of service.
`ANCIENT KNOWLEDGE: PERUVIAN TRADITIONS MEET WESTERN CULTURE:
We are honored to have been passed down traditions and medicine songs through generations of healers from both Peruvian Indigenous and Western decent. This unique position allows us to bridge the two words, blending cultures and bringing ancient wisdom to our participants without cultural barriers or the need for translators. Our ceremonies reflect a deep reverence and respect for Peruvian Mestizo traditions and the linages through which we were trained.
As a husband-and-wife team, we bring a harmonious balance of feminine and masculine energies into the ceremonial space. Matthew offers a grounded sacred masculine energy, while Jeanae embodies a compassionate and divine femininity, beautifully blending these complementary polarities. During the ceremonies, they both contribute their voice and musical talent to the Icaros and accompanying instruments. ​
OUR FACILITY: BLENDED WITH NATURE:
Imagine waking to the sounds of Howler Monkeys outside your windows, or the distinct squawk of a Scarlet Macaw flying overhead. At New Life Rising, our comfortable accommodations seamlessly blend into the surrounding jungle. Each cabin is equipped with A/C, hot water, ergonomic mattresses, linens, towels, bathrooms, and balconies. Even with these amenities, we remain conscious of the relationship we have with the environment and the resources we consume. Guided by the teachings of Ayahuasca, a gift from the earth, we value reciprocity with nature and incorporate responsible eco-practices throughout the facility.
AYAHUASCA SAFETY: PHYSICAL AND ENERGETIC PROTECTION
Our top priority is safeguarding your physical, emotional and energetic safety. Ayahuasca is generally safe when used responsibly, but it’s important to be aware of the potential risks associated with its use. The primary safety concern involves interactions between ayahuasca and certain medications or drugs, which can lead to adverse effects or, in rare cases, fatal consequences. To ensure the safety of all our guests, we require each participant to complete a thorough medical questionnaire over the phone before confirming their booking. We have a doctor we consult with on any complex medical issues to ensure we are providing the appropriate support.​ Our retreat center is equipped with emergency medical equipment, including an AED (automatic external defibrillator) and essential first aid kit. Additionally, Jeanae and Matthew are certified in CPR and AED use.
​Beyond physical safety, we are committed to safeguarding the energetic integrity of our ceremonial space. Our extensive training enables us to hold the space with expertise and care, utilizing spirit allies for protection and knowing when and how to interact with any spiritual entities that may arise during the ceremony. To maintain a safe and supportive environment, we intentionally limit the size of our groups. This helps preserve the ceremonial container, ensuring a balanced and powerful energetic exchange not only from the ayahuasca but also among the participants themselves. We also have two trained assistants present at every ceremony to provide immediate support if needed.

The support from fellow participants and the thoughtful integration sessions provided a safe haven for exploration and growth. I now move forward with a deeper understanding of who I truly am—a living testament to the transformative power of this sanctuary.

Despite these gaps, the journey provided significant clarity and personal growth that I continue to build upon.
