Details of this retreat

The medicine of Yagé (Ayahuasca) is the medicine of pure love, deep healing and ancestral knowledge. With good guidance, this teacher plant can help you heal your mind, your body, and your soul. She can strengthen your spiritual connection and guide you towards your purpose in life, by helping you get mental clarity and find alignment in your path.

If you are open and if you listen, Yagé medicine can give you the most profound healing that you can possibly experience. It is an ancestral tool of growth and development that can help you get to the root of your trauma, therefore allowing you to start to understand and really begin your healing process.
If you have history of mental disorders, of anxiety, depression, PTSD, eating disorders, and you are willing to let go of damaging conditions or self destructive behaviours, this might be the retreat for you. By cleansing your body and mind, by going inwards and looking inside, by listening to the medicine of the Earth you might get the tools and the understanding to push the reset button and take the direction that you need.

From Femtheogen, it is a real honour for us to organise and present you this Yagé retreat with Taita David Queta and his family. Taita David Queta is the son of Taita Querubín Queta Alvarado, the maximum authority of Yagé medicine who passed away last January when he was 111 years old, after more than 100 years learning with the medicine of Yagé and sharing his knowledge, healing the people, serving humanity and working hard for a better world.

His son Taita David Queta carries his teachings and, with his family, he will leave his home in the jungle to come to this beautiful farmhouse in Choachí (close to Bogotá) to share his medicine with us during this retreat. He will come with his wife, Nelsi Lucitante who accompanies him and takes care of the participants during the ceremony, and with their son Arleys Queta, who is a musician as well as a student of the plant of Yagé, and accompanies the ceremonies with his music.

During these days and prior and after the retreat, we from Femtheogen will be here to support you in all your process, and assist you in all the communications with the Taita and his family.

Even though in Europe we work with mushrooms medicine, we have been taking Yagé for several years for our own personal process and growth. In 2023 we had the opportunity to stay for a couple of months in the indigenous reserve Ukumari Kankhe in Putumayo, with Taita Querubín Queta. He was the ultimate guardian of the sacred medicine throughout Colombia and the highest authority of the Cofán indigenous people. They welcomed us with great warmth, and there are no words that can adequately express our gratitude to the Cofán people, Grandfather Taita Querubín, and his legacy. Therefore, our way of expressing our gratitude is by carrying these teachings wherever we go, to our families, our communities and in our work. To organise this retreat with his son Taita David Queta is a very special opportunity, so that more people can experience the immense healing of this plant, by the hands of a true healer and traditional doctor that shares the medicine with knowledge, responsibility, humbleness and love.

This retreat is not for everyone, as you need to be ready to let go and trust in the process, to humble yourself and accept the teachings of the plant, and with them the great gifts of healing and growth.

The medicine, Yagé or Ayahuasca is an ancestral medicine from the Amazon, and its name means “vine of the souls” in Quechua (an indigenous language), referring to wise ancestors who have passed away. Indigenous elders use this sacred plant to find the answers that lie within ourselves, to separate the soul, cleanse it, heal it, and return it intact to the body.

WHAT IS FEMTHEOGEN

FEMTHEOGEN is a word and a concept as itself. Fem (comes from the word feminine) and entheogen, derived frim Greek entheos (that contains God within), refers to vegetable substances – or a preparation/combination of vegetable substances – that once consumed, can induce altered states of consciousness.

The concept FEMTHEOGEN refers to the feminine sacredness that these altered states of consciousness can induce; the experiences with entheogens can repare this illusory state of separation and we can feel connected with the Unity and the Mother.

HISTORY

FEMTHEOGEN is born from the union of spiritual sisters that recognised each other in the healing path, working together in ancestral medicines retreats. We felt that even though the work that we were doing was helping many brothers and sisters, we wanted to create a sacred space for women to heal. A space where they can feel safe and understood, because we know that individual wounds are also collective wounds and if one of us heals, we all heal. Because our individual crisis translate into the social and global crisis that we face nowadays.

After many ceremonies together, the conversations to make this collective dream come true began. One night, after a ceremony with ancestral medicines, we decided to take this step in order to help women heal and empower themselves and in this way, help the masculine collective as well.

Femtheogen is not a space exclusively for women, but it is a space created from feminine care, taking into account that men are equally important for the awakening of consciousness and that only together, hand in hand, can we improve our lives in society.

At the end of 2023, we embarked on a journey deep into our own being, retreating to the jungle of Putumayo, Colombia, to be able to offer, from the most honest part of our hearts, a sacred space where we can openly talk about our emotions and traumas, face them without fear and begin a path of growth and healing.

In those sacred lands that welcomed us with great warmth, we have understood how necessary it is for women to open their hearts to forgive our wounds with the masculine; only then we can find more conscious partners and families, thus contributing to the development of a more balanced society in harmony with the Earth.

Our mission of empowerment is to ensure that women reconnect with their intuition, their inner witch and priestess, and that their medicine is their food, the plants, and self-love.

In the fast-paced times that our society lives, it is more necessary than ever to take a moment to breathe and pause. The technology that our daily lives easier can also cause stress. Social media, which seems to connect us, can provoke anxiety when we compare our lives to the others’. That is why stepping away from the noise can help us connect more with ourselves, and allow us to truly listen to what our bodies and souls are telling us.

Finding our true selves amidst our routines can be challenging. That’s why attending our retreats provides you with the opportunity to empower yourself and overcome fears and traumas in a completely safe environment, surrounded by therapists and medicine women who are ready to support you at all times.

Ancient medicines can open doors to our subconscious, allowing us to heal our deepest wounds. They give us the opportunity to connect with our divinity, as written by María Sabina, “the spirit woman,” shaman or Chjota Chjine (the one who knows), known for her knowledge of plant medicine and the sacred mushroom, known as Teonanacatl, which she lovingly called “little angels” or “little children.”

My time at Femtheogen was a mix of highs and lows. Emma and Gloria are wonderful facilitators, exuding warmth and expertise. The ceremonies were profound, and I gained valuable insights. However, the shared accommodations, with 3-4 beds per room, lacked the privacy I was hoping for. Additionally, the remote location in Choachí made transportation a bit challenging. While the natural beauty of the mountains is undeniable, clearer communication about these aspects beforehand would have been appreciated. Overall, a meaningful experience but with room for improvement in logistics.

Embarking on my first psychedelic journey was a daunting prospect, but Emma and Gloria at Femtheogen made it an enlightening and safe adventure. Their empathy and patience were evident from our initial interaction, addressing my apprehensions with care. The retreat setting, a serene farmhouse in Choachí, an hour from Bogotá, offered breathtaking mountain views that immediately put me at ease. During the ceremony, I faced overwhelming emotions, but Gloria’s calming presence and Emma’s soothing vocals guided me through the experience. The integration sessions the following day were invaluable, helping me process and incorporate the insights gained. This retreat has profoundly impacted my life, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking personal growth.

I attended a three-day session with Gloria, and it was truly transformative. Gloria’s genuine, positive, and loving nature made me feel instantly connected, as if I’d known her forever. Her energy, guidance, and especially her voice during the ceremonies were pivotal in helping me connect deeply with my inner self. The only hiccup was the shared accommodations; while comfortable, a bit more privacy would’ve been nice. Nonetheless, the experience was magical and powerful. Thank you, Gloria!

Man, what a trip! I was pretty nervous going into my first psychedelic experience, but Emma and Gloria had my back the whole time. They’re super chill and made me feel safe throughout the journey. The farmhouse in Choachí is dope—comfy beds, killer views, and good vibes all around. The ceremonies were intense but in a good way. Emma’s calming presence and Gloria’s lovely vocals really helped me navigate through the tough spots. Only thing I’d tweak is the Wi-Fi; it’s there, but kinda spotty. But honestly, unplugging was part of the charm. Big thanks to Emma and Gloria for guiding me through this life-changing experience!

Wow, just wow! Attending the Femtheogen retreat in September 2024 was hands down the most transformative experience of my life. From the get-go, Emma and Gloria were absolutely AMAZING. I was a newbie to retreats and kinda nervous, but they answered all my questions and put my mind at ease. The location? Perfect. Nestled in the mountains, surrounded by nature’s beauty. During the ceremonies, whenever things got intense, Emma and Gloria were right there, guiding me through. Their support was everything.
