MEDICINAL PLANT DIET

_MG_5414

First of all, you need to distinguish and differentiate the diet before Ayahuasca ceremony and the medicinal plants’ diet.

The diet before Ayahuasca ceremony, consist in a preparation for the body and mind, in order to be more receptive to the post treatment and the plant assimilation.

It is a process involving deep, intense and efficient personalized treatment, through which you’ll be digesting specific medicinal plants.

This process requires a certain isolation, light feeding, specific rules and a commitment towards the shaman.

By doing so, you will optimize the connection and compatibility with the plant that you are going to diet. Such a diet can help you to treat depression, anxiety, traumas, phobias, addictions and increase your self-confidence and stability.

It can also help in some cases of cancer. The plant is chosen according to the necessity of the patient, however each person have a distinct degree of assimilation and tolerance.

Before the official beginning of the diet, you’ll receive different methods of purifying cleansing:

  • Purgatives plants
  • Vapor baths (flowering baths)
  • Traditional Shipibo massage

All those steps will contribute to the purification and opened-mindedness during the diet.

At your arrival to our center, you’ll receive a private interview with the shaman so that you can specify the reason of your visit, your worries and problems that you may be facing.

Once you’ll be acclimated to the surroundings and the environment, through a first Ayahuasca ceremony, the shaman will advise you and indicate you the most suitable plant for your healing and apprenticeship.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

During the Diet, the main master of the patient is the plant. It teaches us different lessons thanks to dreams, unlocking and freeing non-processed memories that doesn’t allow us to move forward.

Nevertheless, the shaman does have an very important function in the healing process. He will guide you and help to improve the connection with the plant, throughout the Ayahuasca ceremonies with Icaros (shamanic songs) within the diet.

The patient will have its first Ayahuasca ceremony before having the curative plant and will have another ceremony to finalize and close the diet. To work and go for a diet is somehow difficult, especially during very first steps.

In those hard times, do remember the goals that you pretend to reach. In general the hard times are shorts. You will have all the necessary help to face and overcome them quickly. It is therefore important that you communicate with us.

Do not be afraid to express your feelings and share your thoughts. Therefore we will be in best position to help you in your healing process and apprenticeship. Once you’ll overcome those ups and downs, you will start to receive the pleasant and grateful rewards.

Thus we free ourselves from all the things preventing us from moving forward in life, we open ourselves to new dimensions. As well as to ourselves than to our environment. Day by day, your system will be impregnated by the power of the plant, thus allowing us to work from the deepest.

It is important to follow the rules and indications from the shaman so that the energy appropriately develop itself within you and provide you with the healing you are looking for.

During the diet, you will not consume salt, sugar, oil, spices, and chili. The meals may vary according to the plant dieted.  Of course, no consumption of alcohol, any kind of drugs (included marijuana), neither having sexual activity and you’ll have to prevent to expose yourself to the sun.

Example of aliments during the diet: Rice, Lentils, Quinoa, Oats, Potatoes, Green bananas, Yucca and depending of the plants, some fish and chicken

COMPULSORIES RULES OF AFTER-DIET

Once the diet is over, the strength and energy of the plant will still be working in your system. That’s why it’s very important to keep respecting the indications and the strict norms of the shaman. Thus you will prevent yourself from side effects that can affect your physical, mental and spiritual health.

The post-diet restrictions lasts 2 up to 4 weeks, depending on the type of treatment you received or kind of plant you ingested. Before leaving the center, you will receive personalized indications and care during which you will be informed of the exact restrictions, general information, you will need to respect and accomplish.

For a period of one month after diet:

  • No consumption of alcohol and drugs
  • No consumption of pork meat and derivate
  • No spicy food (especially chili)

For a period of 3 weeks after diet:

  • Avoid to consume marihuana
  • Avoid to have sexual activities

For a period of 2 weeks after diet:

  • Avoid to consume Red meat

For a period of 1 week after diet:

  • Avoid fried food

We also recommend you:

  • Not to have Therapeutic intervention

  • Avoid to have cold aliments and drinks

The recommended period of time for a dieta is 3 weeks, however it is possible to organize a shorter diet (for example, 2 weeks).

The longer will be your diet, the longer it will take the plant to work in your system, thus receiving efficient and deep healing. All along the process, the family will be by your side and pleased to help you.

I embarked on a journey at Ayahuasca on Ixobo with high hopes of deep healing, but my experience was a mixed bag. The retreat’s setting is undeniably vibrant—a jungle alive with energy that instantly draws you in. The ceremonies were powerful and did evoke intense emotions that brought some hidden truths to light.

However, I couldn’t help but feel that the experience was somewhat one-dimensional. The facilitators, while knowledgeable, often leaned on a rigid structure that left little room for individualized guidance during the most critical moments. There were times when I felt overwhelmed by the sheer intensity without a sufficient personal support system to help me integrate the insights. Additionally, some of the communal aspects, like the basic sleeping quarters and limited downtime, made the journey more exhausting than reflective. I left with some valuable revelations, but also with lingering doubts about whether the retreat fully honored the complexity of my inner work. If you’re daring enough to face powerful medicine but can accept an experience that may lack nuanced support, you might find something meaningful here—but it wasn’t quite enough for me.

I spent a week at Ayahuasca on Ixobo and discovered a place where raw, unfiltered healing meets the untamed beauty of nature. The sanctuary is set in an expansive jungle that seems to breathe with life—a setting that jolts you out of your everyday routines and forces you to confront your innermost self.

The ceremonies were incredibly potent. I experienced moments of intense emotional release that left me both exhilarated and a bit raw. There were instances when the experience felt almost overwhelming, as if the powerful energy of the medicine was too fierce to fully grasp. While the facilitators did their best to guide us, I sometimes wished for a more personalized touch to help navigate those turbulent waves of emotion. Despite that, I walked away with insights that have reshaped my approach to life, even if the journey wasn’t perfectly smooth. If you’re ready for an adventure into the depths of your soul in a setting that’s as wild as it is beautiful, this retreat is worth exploring.

I came to Ayahuasca on Ixobo looking to break free from old patterns and find some clarity, and the experience was intense. The retreat is set in a lush, tropical haven that exudes a raw, untamed beauty—every moment there feels like a step into an ancient world. The ceremonies hit hard, with bursts of emotion and insight that forced me to reevaluate long-held beliefs.

The facilitators, although well-intentioned, sometimes followed a one-size-fits-all approach that left me craving more tailored guidance during my most vulnerable moments. Additionally, while the natural setting is stunning, the rustic accommodations left me longing for just a bit more comfort after long, grueling days of introspection. Still, the transformative power of the medicine and the overall supportive energy of the group carried me through. I left feeling more self-aware and empowered, though I wish the integration process had been a little more personalized. This retreat is for those who appreciate raw, intense work—even if it comes with a few challenging aspects.

I arrived burdened by the weight of past wounds and a persistent inner darkness, yet the retreat enveloped me in an atmosphere of gentle illumination. The natural surroundings felt like a living tapestry of ancient wisdom—every rustle of leaves and burst of tropical color seemed to whisper secrets of healing and rebirth.

During the ceremonies, I experienced deep emotional catharsis that allowed me to confront and embrace parts of myself I’d long hidden away. The facilitators—warm, down-to-earth, and profoundly knowledgeable—guided us with both firm structure and compassionate spontaneity. In one unforgettable session, I felt as though my inner world had exploded in a radiant display of light and truth. I left with a revitalized spirit, a clearer sense of purpose, and an enduring gratitude for the journey. For anyone searching for a genuine awakening, this retreat is a portal to rediscover your inner brilliance.

I stepped into Ayahuasca on Ixobo with a mix of curiosity and skepticism, but what unfolded was nothing short of a cosmic dance of renewal. The retreat’s atmosphere is otherworldly—imagine a place where the jungle’s lush greenery meets a mystic, almost ethereal calm. During the ceremonies, I felt as if I were floating in a sea of vivid emotions and ancient memories. It was like my soul was invited to perform a sacred dance, shedding years of inner heaviness in a burst of raw, healing energy.

The facilitators, with their gentle, almost intuitive presence, guided us through each ritual as if they were co-choreographers of a spiritual ballet. Every detail—from the carefully chosen ceremonial songs to the quiet moments of reflection—worked together to transform my perspective on life. I left Ayahuasca on Ixobo feeling lighter, more connected to the universe, and filled with a newfound joy. This retreat is a true blessing for anyone ready to surrender to the transformative power of nature and ceremony.
